As of today, we are moving to a new way for our Editors' to be evaluated and promoted. Now, Editors will become or remain accessing paid tasks after a evaluation process, run everyday by Unbabel. Unbabel customers expect consistent quality from our services, so we need to ensure that each and every Editor in our community upholds our high standards.
As you remember, Editors were only promoted to Paid Editors when they made 500 points in Training Tasks and at least 3 tasks, evaluated by their peers, at the minimum rating for the chosen language pair.
We will do this with a rigorous three-steps evaluation process:
1. Evaluation queue shortlist
Every day, our system will choose randomly a sample of Editors (around five Editors according the target Language Pairs) to be evaluated based on the translation needs. If you have done at least 10 training/paid tasks in one of the language pairs we evaluate, then you are subject to evaluation. This evaluation is compulsory and can't be postponed by Editors.
2. Five tasks assessment
Our internal assessment begins here: 5 out of your latest tasks, randomly picked, are carefully reviewed and given a rating each by our team. Don't worry: our Evaluators are seasoned translation professionals, that Unbabel trusted with quality assessment.
As on the platform, this rating is given without any knowledge of who made any task, to guarantee an unbiased, fair rating for every Editor.
It's important to note that evaluations executed by our Evaluators express Unbabel's opinion and the final word about the results given.
3. Results and Evaluation rating criteria
Your sample tasks will be rated according a 5 star rating used on the platform by all Editors. Your 5 task rating average will be the Evaluation Score.
You will receive the results in your e-mail as well as in your dashboard (check the tab "Evaluated" at "My Tasks"). You will then learn your score, commented by our Evaluators and know if you're promoted or if you need to work harder, still.
If you didn't pass, don't worry. You have the chance of being evaluated again anytime, as long as you have at least 10 Tasks completed in the referred language pair - therefore, we advise you to stay active at the platform and improving your editing skills!
Important: At this point, Evaluation results are final and cannot be disputed.
If you have any questions, please read our Evaluation System FAQ, or feel free to contact us with any other doubts.
Happy translating! :)
