Editors are paid by the time they spend editing tasks and/or reviewing jobs on the Unbabel platform. These hourly rates can vary according to a few factors.
How are the Hourly Rates calculated?
The hourly rates for tasks are updated daily, depending on the quality and speed of each individual Editor’s tasks.
The hourly rate will remain the same even when Editors do not log on to the platform. However, from the moment the editor does log on and begins working, the rates will be re-calculated based on the performance of the latest tasks.
When an Editor works very fast but provides poor translations, they will not have a high hourly rate. The same applies to an Editor takes too long to complete tasks, regardless of the quality they deliver.
Editor performance is routinely assessed by regular internal evaluations and Unbabel’s proprietary quality estimation system.
How can I increase my hourly rate?
- Improve quality! Ensuring good quality translation — double check spelling, grammar and ensure the correct use of language and an understanding of the source text — is one of the best ways to do so. Check out our Language Guidelines to get valuable tips.
- Speed-up! The faster you deliver high-quality work, the more you will receive. Ensure quality, but don’t waste time!
- Skip tasks! If you find it difficult to complete, skip it. Skips are not taken into account when calculating your hourly rate and free up the work for someone else.
