How much will I get paid?

Unbabel pays per hour, not per word. Your hourly rate fluctuates according to the efficiency with which you complete your tasks, taking into account speed and quality. You can read more about how hourly rates work here.

Hourly rates at Unbabel range from 8USD/hour right up to 18USD/hour for our best editors. In some language pairs, in peak periods, our best editors can work for several hours a day, often making hundreds of dollars a month.

However, the nature of crowd work in translation means that there are times where the community earns a lot, and times when there is less work to do. This is usually due to standard industry fluctuations or changes in the community. Whilst we will do our best to forecast this and alleviate any pressure on our editors, it is in the nature of the work that there will be slow days, weeks, or months. It’s a good idea to complete tasks for at least a few months so that you can see all the different levels of job availability before making long-term financial plans.. 

Please remember that from a legal standpoint and according to our Terms of Service, editors are classed as “service providers” and don’t have a working relationship with Unbabel.
