Unbabel On-demand is a service that allows you to request a translation for any given text, to any onboarded language pair, directly at the Unbabel Portal, without resorting to any integration or setup process. Just type or upload your content and we'll be ready to go.
Unbabel On-demand is available in the Apps Menu of the Portal on a subscription basis. If you do not have access, but would like to, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
You can find a video recording on the basics of requesting an On-demand translation here.
On-demand App
On-demand translation requests generate translation orders that you can find and manage in the On-demand app page. Start by logging in to the Customer Portal. Find and click on the Orders section in the left panel to access the On-demand Orders app.
You’re now on the On-demand homepage. Learn how to manage and view your orders here.
Requesting translations
To request a translation order, go to the On-demand app and select New Translation in the top right-hand corner of the page.
You will find a new window where you'll be guided through some steps necessary to request the translation.
1 - Upload one or more files to translate. Make sure to upload files in a supported format.
You can submit content in two different ways:
- Upload files directly- This will create one order per uploaded file. You can click on Add File or drag and drop them into the work area and move to step 2.
- Alternatively, select Paste text to input text directly. After you pasted all content, click on Generate File. The new file will be added to the order list. Once you created all files, click Next to proceed to step 4.
2 - If you uploaded files, wait for them to run through our filters and successfully upload. You can check their progress or cancel the upload while waiting.
3 - Confirm all files are uploaded. You can manage your request by removing unwanted files. Files failing to upload can be retried unless their format is not valid or contains an issue, in which case you may want to proceed without them and reach out to support through the button appearing in the respective entry. Click Next.
4 - Find the next tab to choose the Pipeline Group you wish to be used for the translation and confirm the source language and target languages for the request. Available idioms will be listed from your subscribed and Pipeline group enabled languages. Click Next.
5 - See the summary tab and confirm your request. You can change the Order name at this stage by clicking and editing the Order name field for each order - this will be the displayed name on the Order list.
The request is then sent to our translation pipeline. At this point, translation requests will be processed and follow the Translation Flow according to your specific Pipelines. You can review the translation orders and their status, clicking in an individual order to view which translations were requested.
When an order is ready, you will receive an email notifying you that it has been completed, and the status on the Portal will update accordingly. Your files will be ready for download in the same format as originally uploaded.
Supported formats
Unbabel supports several different file formats, which you can learn more about here.
