Creating a Project requires that a number of pre-requisites are met - from those related to file content, to Unbabel account setup. As such, failing to meet one of them may cause the creation or submission of a Project to fail. Below, you can find the most common issues and solution that prevent a Project from being sent for translation.
>>>Note: this article deals with problems preventing a Project from submitting. If you find errors after you sent the translation request, check this article instead.<<<
File fails to upload
A first line of validation occurs upon file upload. If a file is deemed invalid, it will fail to upload. It may be worth it to retry the upload by clicking the arrow at the end of the file entry record, however, a file that has an intrinsic fault will repeatedly fail to be added to the Project.
Common causes for the fail include:
- file format is not supported. Check our supported formats list
- the file is corrupted
- a file with the same name has already been uploaded
Note that if you upload an unsupported file you can still continue with the project creation (provided there are other valid files in the project), but no translation order for the file will be created.
Project fails to submit
The message "There was an issue submitting your project. Please try again later" displays. Different reasons may cause the issue:
- the file size is too big. Currently, projects without services support files up to 100 Mb. Try splitting the file.
- at least one of the files has an issue that was not picked in an earlier validation. Please check the file for any issues.
- your Unbabel account is not properly configured. Please reach out to us at customer.happiness@unbabel.com or use the support form.
If you can't find the cause for the issue at hand be sure to report the Project with all relevant information.
