We’re always looking for ways to make editors’ jobs easier, and we know that editing the same translation over and over again for the same customer can be tiring. This is why we’ve introduced a new system of confidence levels for our editor interface, which will mean that you only need to focus on the bits where we need the expertise of our editors the most.
There are three confidence levels: high, medium, and unknown.
High confidence segments have been checked by our team of language experts and verified to be the correct translation for that particular customer’s source text. You won’t be able to edit these segments, but you can report issues for us to look into (see below).
Medium confidence segments are where our systems have identified a translation that has been submitted by lots of editors, and where we’re fairly sure that the translation is correct, but it hasn’t been verified by one of our specialists yet. These appear in a lighter grey colour than the high confidence segments and you will be able to edit them, and you should do so if you believe it’s necessary to correct an error. However, if it’s a case of personal preference, you should leave it as it is - don’t waste time on editions that aren’t necessary.
Segments that have an unknown confidence level are all of the other ones - this is where we don’t have information about the quality of that segment. This is where it’s your time to shine and we need all hands on deck to produce that perfect translation.
There are two really important things to remember about this feature: first, that in the unlikely event there is an error in a segment you’re not able to edit, it will not count against you in the event that the task is sent to evaluation.
Secondly, remember that this initiative is about empowering editors to make better use of their time by only editing what’s necessary. Unless there’s something wrong after a quick scan through of the high confidence segments, don’t spend any time on them.
If you do see an error in the high confidence segments, you should report it. Click on the grey flag next to the segment and you will be able to report it. Please remember that if you then go on to complete the task, you will not be penalised for any errors in high confidence segments.
